Deleting the Messenger app’s cache can improve its performance and free up important storage space on your device. Whether you’re using Messenger on an Android phone or iPhone, you can clear the Messenger cache from the device settings whenever the application fails to work properly. Clear Messenger Cache on Android
1. Open the Settings app and head to the Apps section.
2. Tap See all apps or Manage Apps, and select Messenger.
3. Under Storage & cache, simply tap Clear cache to remove the cached data.

Clear Messenger Cache on iPhone
Unlike Android, there is no direct setting to clear the cache on iPhone. Instead, you need to offload the app on your iPhone.
Note: Offloading the app will only free up the space of the app by clearing the cache. You can reinstall the app and access it with the saved data.
1. Open Settings and select General.
2. Tap iPhone Storage and find Messenger.
3. Select Offload App to remove the app while keeping its data. To use Messenger again, tap on the Reinstall app option.
